Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust - Music Co-ordinators

Since May 2013, both directors have been working in the Arts Department of HEFT. The Trust is comprised pf three hospitals in Birmingham: Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull. The role involves the co-ordination of performances by local volunteer musicians for the entertainment of the patients, their families and staff. The music programme at HEFT strives to provide such activities in order to relieve boredom, anxiety and to boost morale.

In addition to this, the music co-ordinators organise interactive sessions to take place on the wards, which are either presented by local community musicians, students or the directors themselves. Workshops are regularly run by Ex Cathedra, as part of their 'Singing Medicine' program. The Trust also collaborates with the Birmingham Conservatoire to deliver a third year specialism called 'Music and Health'.
