Georgina Farrow

Georgina started studying the flute aged seven, and was an active member of all music ensembles at Thirsk School and Sixth Form College. She joined Birmingham Conservatoire in 2008 where she was taught by Colin Lilley and has had lessons with Marie-Christine Zupancic and Judith Hall. She has participated in master classes by Karen Jones, Andrew Lane, Rowland Sutherland and Kevin Gowland.

Georgina has led music workshops in a variety of different hospital wards, including Paediatrics and Stroke. As well as this, Georgina is a volunteer tutor at the music group "Melody Music Birmingham" run by Melody. This group provides music sessions for young people with Additional Support Needs and provides instrumental lessons. 

Georgina works in primary schools around Birmingham, leading curriculum based music lessons and teaching recorder, fife and choirs in both a full classroom setting and after school clubs.

Having graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire, Georgina is pursuing a career in community music and teaching as well as continuing her playing with the British Police Symphony Orchestra.

 Clare Murphy

Clare Murphy is a graduate from Birmingham Conservatoire. Originally from Glasgow, she moved to the city in 2008 and studied the recorder with Ross Winters, Grace Barton, Annabel Knight and Christopher Orton. Clare has performed in a variety of places across the UK from St. Andrews to the London Eye. Some of the more prestigious venues include Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall and the Huntington Hall in London. Clare has also participated in many masterclasses, including her final one with the recorder virtuoso Dan Laurin.

For the past 3 years, Clare has worked as a peripatetic recorder teacher within the Birmingham Music Service. She also teaches flute, clarinet and saxophone with BMS. Something that has always been a passion for Clare is community music. Throughout the last 8 years, she has been involved in a wide variety of voluntary music projects (mostly working with children and young people with additional support needs) both in Birmingham and Glasgow.
